Probably anyone born before 1991 can remember where they were on this day. The memories fill us with a number of different emotions… anger, fear, shame, embarrassment, helplessness. What do we remember most about that day? The people jumping out of buildings? The flames, the airplanes, the falling buildings, the dust... the news media hyping the event? Or the heroes? The unnamed men and women running through what was left of the buildings, the rubble and who-knew-what to rescue people that they knew or didn't know?
