September is apple picking season! There are literally hundreds of varieties of edible apples and many different ways to eat them. I will mention just a few. The sweet apples are Fuji, Jazz, Golden Delicious, Honey Crisp, Ambrosia, Fuji, Gala and McIntosh. These are all creamy and sweet choices. Crunchy apples would be Pink Lady, Honey Crisp, and Gala. Tart apples are Granny Smith, Empire, or Braeburn. Rome apples are soft and mildly tart, they’re best for baking. The deep red, shiny and heart-shaped Red Delicious stands out as an iconic representation of the apple.
