Happy Full Hunter’s Moon! The Hunter’s moon will reach peak illumination at 4:54 P.M. EST on Sunday, October 9th. The very best time to see this full moon in all its brilliance is on the horizon at twilight. It will look more colorful and bigger than it will at any other time of night. So make sure to catch it around sunset! This is when it will take on a gorgeous orange hue as well. This is because of something called “Raleigh scattering.” This is when long wavelength red light travels more easily through the atmosphere creating the reddish-orange glow that dazzles us. Note, it will look just as big and beautiful on twilight of October 10th as well! It will be a two night show!

It is believed this full moon came to be called the Hunter’s Moon because this time of year was the perfect time to go hunting and prepare for the coming long winter. The bright full moon light was helpful to hunt in the early evenings. This hunting aspect is why this full moon is also sometimes referred to as the Blood Moon. Either way, it marks the end of harvest season and is a great time to reflect and feel gratitude. This full moon we can work on ourselves and our shadows as we are now beginning the dark half of the year. A time where it is natural to go within.

This full moon is in Aries, and it is here to remind us we are already complete. Other people and things do not complete us. They add to our life, but the real importance is the relationship we have with ourselves. When we put ourselves first sometimes everyone around us actually benefits. Stay focused on your soul’s journey and become the very best version of yourself you can be. If you understand your own journey more deeply then all of your relationships will become more fulfilling. Partnerships that have a mutual respect and support for each other’s path will heighten your sense of purpose and enjoyment of life. Equal give and take is important. This is a great time to examine the relationships in your life and bring balance and harmony to them. What will that look like for you? Don’t forget, as always, as we wrap up another lunar cycle, to express gratitude for all of your blessings. Gratitude in itself enriches your life in massive ways!
